RAJKOT: A four-year-old girl of a migrated family from Haryana was found dead in Gandhidham, Kutch, on Wednesday. The body was found from the bushes near the railway yard. The girl went missing from railway station on Tuesday night. Her family searched for her and later informed the
Railway Protection Force (RPF). Police have sent the body for postmortem.
According to investigating officer Chimal Lal, Satpal Ode and 10 members, including children and females, came from Haryana for employment opportunities to Gandhidham.
They came by Palanpur-Bhuj train and choose to spend a night at Gandhidham railway station on Tuesday as they had nowhere to go. Roshi alias Mamta (4) was sleeping by her mother's side on the railway platform. Around 3 am, her mother woke up to find Mamta missing. She alerted her family members and they started a search. Failing to locate the little girl, they informed the police.
Early in the morning a local woman, who went to answer nature's call near the railway yard, found the girl's body. Her head was crushed with a stone. Police suspect that the girl may have been raped before she was murdered.
